Helping a Client Find Comfort

Updated: Nov 1

While many embrace this season, it can also be a time when physical discomfort intensifies, particularly for those dealing with chronic pain-related issues.

This week, we had the privilege of helping a client who needed relief from the intense pain caused by the recent cold front.

Winter's Chilling Impact on Pain

As temperatures dropped and the cold front settled in, our client found herself slowly getting stiffer and clenching with movements, particularly in her lower back. The cold weather seemed to have intensified the discomfort that had been bothering her for some time.

She explained that the intense pressure across her lower back and the radiating pain along her lumbar spine had become unbearable. She felt as though the cold had locked her muscles into a state of tension, making every movement a painful.

In spanish, I always heard it as "Te entro un aire". -Air is inside of you.

I always felt the impact of it but its still hard to explain or describe the feeling of intense pain that just show up!

A Customized Approach to Relief

At Ongoing Renewal we understand the challenges that winter weather can have on those dealing with chronic pain-related issues. Our goal is to provide tailored solutions that offer relief and comfort. For our client we knew that a combination of techniques would be the key to her relief.

Here is what we did:

1. Deep Tissue Massage: To address the tension and tightness in her muscles, we began with a deep tissue massage. This technique involves applying firm pressure to reach deeper layers of muscle tissue, helping to release knots and ease muscle stiffness.

2. Hot Stones: Used hot stones-adds an extra layer of warmth and relaxation to the massage experience. The soothing heat of the stones penetrates deep into the muscles, further alleviating tension and promoting circulation.

3. Cupping Therapy: Cupping to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and provide relief from muscle pain. By creating suction with these well designed cups, we target the areas of her back that required attention.

Comprehensive Care

The combination of these techniques proved to be highly effective for her. By customizing our approach to her specific needs and the impact of the cold weather, we were able to provide her with the relief she had been seeking.

Smiles Say it All

As she walked out of the room her face lit up with a smile that radiated warmth and gratitude. The tension in her muscles had melted away, and she felt a s sense of ease and comfort.
